About wausernames

WhatsApp launches usernames in 2026. Two billion people will need to pick one. The handles you actually want — your name, your business, your city — will be claimed within hours of public launch. This site exists so you don't lose yours.

What we do today (Phase 1)

What we'll do next (Phase 2)

When Meta announces an official transfer mechanism, we open the marketplace: listings, Stripe Connect escrow, verification, and disputes. Until then we don't process trades — that would risk your account.

Are we Meta? Are we WhatsApp?

No. wausernames is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms. Trademarks belong to their respective owners. Our search tool does not query WhatsApp's servers; it validates the format Meta has publicly announced.

Why an escrow marketplace?

Because direct peer-to-peer username sales are how people lose money. Telegram Fragment did $350M+ in volume because Telegram backed it; without that backing, every gray-market deal is a coin-flip on whether the seller releases the handle after payment, or the buyer disputes the charge after claiming. Escrow with verification fixes both sides.

When does it actually open?

Meta confirmed phased beta from April 2026 with global launch by mid-2026. Marketplace features here go live the day Meta announces a transfer mechanism. If Meta never does, the waitlist remains a notification service and we don't open trading. Your account stays safe either way.
